Vaastav begins with a family conducting funeral rites for someone at a beach. When the deceased’s young son inquires about the person, his grandmother starts recounting the story. At the start of the film, Raghunath Namdev Shivalkar, also known as “Raghu,” and his closest companion Dedh Footiya face difficulties finding employment in Mumbai. Raghu resides in a Mumbai Chawl with his retired father, mother, and his educated yet jobless brother. They decide to operate a pav bhaji stall. However, Raghu and Dedh Footiya unintentionally cause the death of a customer who turns out to be the brother of a notorious gangster named Fracture Bandya. Being pursued, the two of them eventually eliminate Fracture Bandya and his men as well, after the latter attempts to deceive them by arranging a meeting through Suleiman Bhai, an intermediary in the Mumbai underworld. Subsequently, Raghu and Dedh Footiya find themselves deeply involved in the Mumbai underworld.
